The pineapple is essentially a tropical fruit having sharp edge leaves and a large fleshy edible fruit. It is used in deserts, salads, as a complement to meat dishes and in fruit cocktail. Although sweet, it is also known for its high acid content. Pineapple juice can be used as a marinade and tenderizer for meat.
Known as the MD-2, this variety is extra sweet and originated in Hawaii. It is richer in Vitamin C than other varieties and is less acidic. It is currently the most popular pineapple at the moment
